New online Career Center to benefit departing members of the U.S. Sea Services by matching their skills and experience with corporate members’ jobs

Washington D.C. and Phoenix, AZ – March 25, 2005

The Navy League of the United States (NLUS), a civilian support group for men and women of the sea services, and IdealHire Technologies, Inc., the accurate candidate identification company, today announced the NLUS has adopted IdealHire’s PowerMatch™ technology as the engine for the new NLUS Career Center.  IdealHire will provide an advanced web-based Career Center, which enables candidate profile and resume creation, job profile development and library resources, accurate and automated profile matching and ranking, training and customer support.

The PowerMatch technology provides the ability to quickly create an online resume, using PowerMatch’s pull down skills, industry, depth of experience and education database menus.  This will be a free service for men and women transitioning from the U.S. Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine to the civilian sector.  The NLUS’s corporate and community affiliate members will benefit by gaining access to a system that automatically matches qualified candidate profiles to job profiles.  IdealHire will develop and implement the system, as well as provide customer support to the Career Center’s candidates and job posting businesses.  The NLUS will market and populate the web-based career center program.

“We believe this partnership represents an outstanding opportunity for our constituents, the men and women of the U.S. Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines, to take advantage of a state-of-the-art Career Center, easing their transition to the civilian world,” said Stephen R. Pietropaoli, National Executive Director, Navy League of the United States.  “It’s a very challenging time in any Sailor or Marine’s life when they go from active duty to the civilian private sector.  IdealHire’s electronic resume options, and its ability to connect potentially great employees with employers looking for just their skill sets, will help both individual and corporate NLUS members overcome an enormous hurdle quickly and efficiently with a high success rate.  This will take a lot of fear and concern out of the transition process for our great men and women of the sea services.”

Susan Fallon, Senior Director Business Development, Navy League of the United States, said, “Using IdealHire’s PowerMatch engine to drive the Navy League’s Career Center will create a huge membership value proposition.  The fees derived from the job postings, exclusively from corporate members and community affiliates, will support the primary mission of the NLUS.  Access to the pool of qualified candidates will provide a compelling benefit for non-member companies to join the NLUS.  Departing service men and women will learn of the NLUS, receive the benefits of the Career Center and be invited to become Navy League members early in their civilian careers.”

“IdealHire and the Navy League both share the objective of supporting men and women of the sea services as they transition into the civilian sector.  The Career Center will provide an opportunity to create an online job profile and resume, assisting them with a process in which they are not normally trained,” Doug Crawford, Executive Vice President, IdealHire.  “Online profiles and resumes will be posted where they are most likely to be matched against appropriate jobs from Navy League member companies that prefer to hire experienced veterans. This will be a virtual community for departing service people, where they can quickly, easily and continually have their skills, experience and education matched with jobs at hundreds of companies that want to hire them.”

The PowerMatch engine pushes the envelope with a patented process that uses a common language database and vocabulary in both job description and candidate profile.  This substantially improves the quality of hires and reduces time-to-hire time.  With pull down menus providing a common vocabulary, members of the Navy League who may have had no experience in writing a resume for the private sector easily recognize the civilian terms for military experience.  This makes it easier and faster to create a resume and assures a better quality match between experience and job description.  Profiles created using the system are stored for as long as the candidate chooses to keep it current.  The profiles show hiring companies the last date the profile was updated.  Corporate members of the Navy League will find the Career Center a much faster, efficient and economical process for hiring departing members of the sea services.
