Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit.
  • Assist with obstetric procedures such as inductions, cesarean sections, vaginal deliveries, and other obstetric interventions.
  • Monitor fetal well-being using GE fetal monitors and manage patient care utilizing electronic medical records (Epic and CPN connect).
  • Perform sterile vaginal examinations (SVE), place intrauterine pressure catheters (IUPC), and support transition of the baby post-delivery.
  • Support on-call duties, including two shifts per four-week schedule, and respond to unit emergencies as needed.
  • Adhere to unit policies regarding protocols such as no elective pre-39-week deliveries, Pitocin protocols, and hemorrhage management.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team in a Level II NICU setting.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Alaska RN license (or willing to obtain for consideration).
  • Moderate to advanced experience as an operating room (OR) circulator nurse.
  • Labor, Delivery, and Postpartum nursing experience.
  • Current certifications: AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring or NCC-EFM, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS).

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Skilled in performing sterile vaginal exams and placing IUPC and FSE.
  • Experience as a "stork nurse" or transitional support for newborns at delivery.
  • Ability to float to the mother-baby unit if necessary.
  • Cheerful, adaptable, team-oriented, quick learner, and dependable.
