• Registered Nurse - Cardiac Stepdown

Schedule / Job Type

• Full-time, 12-hour day shifts, 3 shifts per week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to cardiac patients in a stepdown unit.
• Monitor patient cardiac rhythms and respond to arrhythmias with interpretation of dysrhythmias and remote monitoring.
• Administer medications, including cardiac drips such as Diltiazem and Amiodarone.
• Manage post-procedure care for cardiac caths, surgeries, and sheath removals.
• Access ports, administer blood products, and care for central lines, PICC lines, and sheaths.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Active NC or Compact RN license in hand at start date.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent cardiac stepdown nursing experience.
• Experience with telemetry, PCU, DOU, IMC, or stepdown units.
• Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and operate remote cardiac monitoring systems.
• Experience with post-cardiac cath procedures, sheath pulls, and cardiac drips.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Charge nurse experience.
• Certification in ACLS; NIH certification is a plus.

Additional Notes

• Float required as needed, with the potential to float every shift.
• No RTO (leave requests) allowed during the first week due to orientation.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
• Schedule includes weekend work every other weekend.
• COVID-19 protocols and disaster staffing policies apply, including potential deployment during emergencies.
• Must complete 24 hours of unit orientation.
• References required at time of start, with two manager/supervisor references preferred.
