Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to obstetrical patients, including routine and high-risk antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care
  • Monitor and manage labor and delivery processes, including scheduled and unscheduled cesarean sections and cervical cerclage procedures
  • Perform sterile vaginal exams, assist with frequent patient admits, and ensure immediate newborn care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team utilizing electronic medical records and other hospital systems
  • Assist with outpatient procedures such as fetal surveillance, IV hydration, and medication administration
  • Maintain patient safety and adhere to clinical protocols in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina or Compact license with valid in-hand licensing at start
  • BLS, AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced, and NRP certifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of labor and delivery or high-volume obstetrical care experience, preferably 3 years for comfort with unit demands
  • Experience with circulating in OR settings preferred

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience working in large, high-volume obstetrical units
  • Familiarity with hospital systems such as EPIC, PYXIS, and SBAR communication
  • Strong competence in sterile vaginal exams and immediate newborn care

Additional Notes

  • No RTO allowed during the first week for orientation; RTO requests up to 7 days may be auto-approved if not during holidays
  • Travel compliance includes completing testing within 48 hours of signing
  • Rotation includes every other weekend, with a minimum of six weekend shifts per schedule
  • Candidates must be comfortable floating within the hospital or nearby affiliate units as needed
  • This role is for night shifts, 12 hours each, with a maximum of 3 shifts per week
