Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a Medical Surgical unit, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and respond to emergency situations using telemetry and rapid response protocols.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Administer medications, including IV therapies such as Heparin and Insulin, and manage central lines and PICC lines.
- Assist with post-procedure care, including post-angiogram and post-MI recovery, and manage complex cases such as endocrine, gastrointestinal, and renal conditions.
- Float to similar units as needed within scope to meet facility demands.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Illinois nursing license in hand.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Medical Surgical experience.
- BLS and NIH certifications.
- Experience with telemetry monitoring, cardiac cases, and emergency response.
- Ability to work night shifts consistently and attend a 12-hour overnight schedule.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Cardiovascular care and telemetry experience, including post-angiogram and post-MI.
- Skills in endocrine and metabolic management, such as IV insulin protocols.
- Experience with gastrointestinal and genitourinary cases, including colostomy and dialysis management.
- Proficiency in respiratory care, including chest tube management and non-invasive airway techniques.
- Knowledge of wound care, isolation precautions, and use of electronic charting systems like Cerner.
- Prior charge nurse experience and trauma center familiarity are a plus.

Additional Notes
- Must be able to work two out of three major holidays.
- Floating within the hospital and to affiliate facilities is required.
- No on-call responsibilities.
- Open to candidates who are local or willing to relocate to Springfield, IL.
- Shift schedule: 3 nights per week, 12 hours each from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM.
