Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to women during labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal periods.
• Monitor electronic fetal heart rate tracing and perform labor assessments to ensure patient and fetal well-being.
• Support and educate patients on childbirth, breastfeeding, and postpartum self-care.
• Assist physicians with bedside procedures, pelvic exams, and OB-related interventions.
• Stabilize and prepare high-risk maternal or neonatal patients for transfer to tertiary care facilities.
• Supervise, delegate, and collaborate with CNA, tech, and support staff to ensure quality patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in Alaska or eligible for licensure in Alaska.
• BLS certification; ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications within six months of employment.
• Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience; labor and delivery experience preferred.
• Knowledge of obstetric nursing practices, fetal monitoring, and neonatal care.
• Proficient in nursing procedures, patient assessment, and use of medical equipment.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in labor and delivery or maternal-child health nursing.
• Familiarity with NICHD terminology and fetal monitoring standards.
• Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations, including trauma and fetal distress.

Additional Details

• This role involves working during scheduled shifts that may include on-call responsibilities, holidays, and weekends.
• Will take call as assigned and participate in departmental meetings and training.
