Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to cardiac patients in the CVICU, including post-operative and critically ill patients.
• Titrate and manage various IV drips such as dopamine, dobutamine, vasopressors, sedatives, and insulin, following protocols and physician orders.
• Monitor, interpret, and respond to cardiac and vital sign data using Philips monitoring systems.
• Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, PCTs, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Demonstrate proficiency with cardiovascular intervention equipment including Swan-Ganz catheters, external pacemakers, and ventilators.
• Maintain compliance with safety protocols and ensure accurate assessment, documentation, and communication of patient conditions.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Illinois RN license or active license in process.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent CVICU or cardiac ICU experience.
• Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
• Experience with titrating multiple IV drips such as vasopressors, sedatives, and insulin.
• Ability to interpret cardiac strips and perform rapid assessment in a high-stress environment.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity setting with the capacity to float to other units as needed.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• CCRN or PCCN certification.
• Familiarity with advanced cardiovascular procedures and devices such as IABPs and EP patient management.
• Experience with ventilators, CVC lines, arterial lines, and temporary pacemaker usage.
