• Full-time, Day shifts, 3x12 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide perioperative nursing care in a busy Level I trauma center with 23 operating rooms.
• Assist with a variety of surgical procedures across multiple service lines, including general surgery, orthopedics, neurology, plastics, and urology, excluding cardiovascular cases.
• Administer blood products, ensure infection control, and adhere to universal protocols during surgical procedures.
• Collaborate within a team to ensure patient safety, manage anesthesia, and respond to intraoperative emergencies.
• Work within Cerner EMR system; maintain accurate documentation of surgical cases.
• Participate in on-call rotations, covering approximately one week per month.

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois nursing license in hand or in application process.
• Minimum of 18 months of perioperative nursing experience.
• BLS certification required; CNOR and CST certifications preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Level I trauma procedures, general surgery, trauma, and bariatric cases.
• Experience with laparoscopic, microsurgical (free flap), and organ donation procedures.
• Ability to work within scope, float as needed, and follow hospital protocols.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Cerner EMR system.
• Trauma, neuro, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, and emergency management skills.
• Experience handling complex cases such as craniotomies, lumbar fusions, amputations, and gunshot wounds.
• Knowledge of trauma and emergency response procedures, including code response and fire safety.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, with floating required within hospital and nearby affiliates.
• All time-off requests must be approved in advance.
• Guaranteed hours may be affected by scheduled call-offs or cancellations, with specific billing policies in place.
• Must work 2 major holidays per year.
• Must complete necessary compliance, background checks, and certifications prior to start.
