Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care to labor and delivery patients, including monitoring fetal and maternal health using EFM and other obstetric assessment tools
- Administer medications, including epidurals, and manage sterile vaginal exams and fetal monitoring procedures
- Support obstetrical triage, assist with IUPC placement, and respond to abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Manage patient documentation through Meditech and medication administration via Pyxis systems
- Assist with C-section procedures, including circulating and recovery, ensuring adherence to sterile techniques and safety protocols
- Collaborate with healthcare team members for optimal patient outcomes and provide education to patients and families
Required Qualifications
- Current state nursing license in Illinois
- ACLS, BLS, NRP certifications (active and current)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in labor and delivery or obstetric nursing
- Proficiency in Fetal Monitoring, Epidural management, and obstetric assessments
- Experience with external/internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement and calibration
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Familiarity with Meditech and Pyxis medication systems
- Experience with neonatal care and triage of obstetric patients
- Ability to handle high-acuity obstetric cases and recognize abnormal fetal or maternal conditions
