Registered Nurse - PACU

Schedule / Job Type:
Days, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours per shift

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide post-anesthesia care to adult, geriatric, and occasional adolescent patients in a busy Level I Trauma Center.
• Monitor and manage patients with complex needs including artificial airways, invasive monitoring (e.g., ICP), transfusions, and vasoactive drugs.
• Perform critical care procedures such as starting IVs, administering blood products, phase I PACU care, and dysrhythmia recognition and management.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure safe recovery of surgical patients across various specialties including Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Vascular, Trauma, Transplant, and more.
• Document patient care accurately using EPIC charting system.
• Float within scope to meet unit and hospital needs, ensuring flexible coverage.

Required Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of experience in a Level I ICU or similar critical care environment.
• Current RN license in Missouri (or applicable license if within a compact state).
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Critical care experience in an inpatient, trauma, or PACU setting.
• Experience with invasive monitoring, blood product administration, and vascular access procedures.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• EPIC electronic health record experience.
• Experience caring for post-surgical patients from Neurosurgery, ENT, Plastics, Orthopedics, Thoracic, Vascular, Trauma, GYN, Urological, and Transplant surgeries.
• Ability to handle complex patient scenarios involving ventilated patients and those requiring ICP monitoring.
