Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical/Tele
Location: Tuscaloosa, AL
Schedule / Job Type: Full-time, travel, night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), 13-week assignment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide postoperative care to surgical patients in a 32-bed general surgical unit
- Collaborate closely with physicians, hospitalists, and surgical team members to ensure patient comfort and recovery
- Float between units and hospitals as required, maintaining high levels of flexibility and professionalism
- Administer medications, monitor patient vital signs, manage pain, and facilitate mobility and bedside procedures
- Maintain accurate documentation using the Meditech electronic medical record system
- Adhere to hospital protocols and safety standards, including holiday and weekend coverage
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Nursing (ASN) or higher
- Registered Nurse license valid in Alabama or a compact license (no temporary licenses accepted)
- Current BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross
- Minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience, or 18 months with appropriate licensure, with at least 1 year in a surgical or telehealth setting
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- Experience in general surgery or telemetry units preferred
- Ability to adapt to floating between different units and facilities
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
