Key Responsibilities
- Assist during surgical procedures by ensuring and maintaining the sterile field and providing instrumentation to the surgical team.
- Monitor and maintain the integrity of sterile packaging, ensure proper sterilization, and verify equipment safety and functionality before procedures.
- Observe the sterile field for potential contamination and initiate corrective actions under supervision.
- Support patient transports, room turnovers, and preparation to facilitate smooth surgical workflows.
- Participate in unit activities that promote high-quality patient care and safety standards in compliance with established protocols.
- Communicate effectively with the perioperative team, including participating in Time Out processes, briefings, and debriefings.
- Model professional behavior and maintain current knowledge of new technologies, instrumentation, and procedures.
- Assist in cleaning and preparing instruments for sterilization.
- Uphold principles of a Just Culture and contribute to a safe working environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the surgical team.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program or licensed Surgical Technologist certification.
- Current Surgical Technologist license in the state of Colorado.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
- Ability to demonstrate or rapidly develop the necessary computer skills to access online training, forms, and policies within 90 days.
- Proven proficiency in English reading, writing, and speaking.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Working knowledge or competency with Tier 1 surgical cases.
- Familiarity with AORN standards and aseptic techniques.
- Prior experience supporting a fast-paced surgical environment.

Safety & Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in environments with potential hazards such as biological, chemical, and physical risks.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, and perform manual tasks throughout the shift.
- Must be able to work under stress and respond promptly in emergency situations.
