Key Responsibilities
- Conduct all levels of laboratory testing, including CLIA-defined high complexity testing, independently and accurately.
- Evaluate, interpret, and ensure the accuracy of test results; troubleshoot technical issues with laboratory personnel.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, perform quality control, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Develop, review, and update laboratory procedures, and assist in preparing for inspections.
- Educate and train new staff, students, and ensure ongoing competency and process improvements.
- Collaborate with medical staff by providing test utilization and interpretation guidance as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or a related field.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (ASCP or AMT) or equivalent.
- Clinical competency within 3 months of hire and every three years thereafter.
- One year of relevant clinical laboratory experience or hospital internship.
- Knowledge of all laboratory testing levels, LIS systems, and regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission).
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting.
- Familiarity with microbiology, transfusion medicine, molecular biology, or infectious disease testing.
- Strong troubleshooting, interpretation, and communication skills.
