Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients of all ages in the emergency department, following provider’s orders, standards of care, and hospital policies.
• Independently assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on clinical judgment, including emergency response and management of patient conditions.
• Administer medications and therapeutics accurately, utilizing appropriate equipment, and assist with emergency procedures such as intubations and ventilator management.
• Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatments, and procedures, promoting understanding and coping strategies.
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members, including physicians, technicians, and support staff, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Document all patient assessments, interventions, and responses accurately and thoroughly, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
Required Qualifications
• Current unrestricted Registered Nurse license in Alaska or the ability to obtain one prior to start date.
• BLS certification at hire; ACLS and PALS certifications required within 6 months of employment.
• TNCC certification for ED nurses.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to demonstrate clinical competency within 3 months of hire and ongoing every three years.
Preferred Experience / Skills
• Minimum one year of clinical nursing experience; previous emergency room or specialty background preferred.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, medical equipment, and Pharmacology related to emergency care.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to support positive patient interactions and effective team collaboration.
