Contract | 12-hour shifts | 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including chronic illnesses (COPD, Diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease), GI conditions, infections, neurological issues, and mental health disorders
- Perform patient assessments, develop care plans, and maintain inter-professional communication throughout the care continuum
- Manage clinical equipment and therapies including IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding tubes, chest tubes, heating/cooling pads, and telemetry monitoring
- Administer and monitor heparin and insulin drips, IV therapy, and VTE prevention measures
- Accurately document all patient care utilizing Epic electronic health record and operate Pyxis medication dispensing systems
- Float to other medical units as needed based on census and staffing demands; maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6
Required Qualifications
- Active Indiana RN license or valid compact RN license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similarly sized facility (600+ beds)
- Proficiency with Epic EHR documentation
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts including a minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week scheduling period
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience managing a broad range of medical-surgical patient populations including GI, neurological, and behavioral health diagnoses
- Familiarity with procedures such as colonoscopy prep, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and post-operative surgical care
- Prior experience floating across multiple medical units in a large acute care environment
