Contract | 12-hour shifts | 3 weekend shifts per 4-week period | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general medical-surgical nursing care to a diverse patient population with diagnoses including chronic illnesses (COPD, Diabetes, CHF, end-stage renal disease), GI conditions, infections, neurological issues, and mental health disorders
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop care plans, and maintain inter-professional communication throughout the care continuum
- Manage and monitor clinical equipment including IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding pumps and tubes, chest tubes, and heating/cooling pads
- Administer and manage heparin and insulin drips, IV therapy, and support patients undergoing procedures such as colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, paracentesis, and minor surgeries
- Accurately document all patient care using Epic electronic health records and utilize Pyxis, Accucheck, and telemetry monitoring systems
- Float to other medical units as needed; maintain patient ratios of 1:5–6
Required Qualifications
- Active Indiana RN license or valid compact RN license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a facility of 600+ beds
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health records
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts including a minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience floating to multiple medical-surgical units in a large hospital environment
- Familiarity with Hospira IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing systems, and telemetry monitoring
- Experience caring for patients with complex, co-occurring diagnoses including mental health and substance use disorders
