Key Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of the Respiratory Medical Director and Department Manager in the treatment, management, control, and diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities.
  • Triage patients safely, rapidly, and accurately upon entry into the emergency care system, determining priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs and patient flow factors.
  • Communicate with ED physicians regarding changes in patient status, symptomatology, and results of diagnostic studies.
  • Provide respiratory care services in accordance with physician orders, department policies, and procedures including patient assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Deliver patient, caregiver, and community education as part of comprehensive respiratory care.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Utah State Respiratory Therapist Licensure.
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Active BCLS and ACLS certification.
  • Valid and active NBRC Credential in good standing.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • AARC or USRC membership preferred.
  • Prior experience in an emergency care or acute care setting.
