Contract | Nights (3x12-Hour Shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite | 13–26 Week Assignment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical unit with a primary Oncology patient population, including administration of chemotherapy, biotherapy (IV, PO, or injection), and management of general medical-surgical diagnoses such as AKI, sepsis, septic shock, malignant neoplasms, encephalopathy, and diabetic foot ulcers
- Perform and manage specialized clinical skills including colostomy care, port access, blood product administration, central line blood draws, PICC line management, peripheral line care, surgical drain management, chest tube care (Emerson/Pleur-evac), wound care and wound vac, and non-invasive airway management
- Administer and monitor high-risk medications including heparin drips and insulin
- Float to similar units and alternate inpatient care locations as needed, including inpatient holding in the ED or other medical patient care areas
- Participate in every-other-weekend scheduling requirements and fulfill on-call obligations for pre-scheduled shifts that are called off
- Serve on Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team; may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact state license
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an inpatient setting
- Proficiency in Medical/Surgical nursing skills including isolation precautions, wound care, chest tube management, and non-invasive airway management
- Ability to administer chemotherapy if required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Familiarity with PYXIS, EPIC, and SBAR communication systems
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
- Charge nurse experience
