Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care to oncology and hematology patients in a high-acuity blood cancer unit.
- Administer medications, including blood products and electrolytes, and monitor patient responses.
- Perform procedures such as lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies with or without sedation, and thoracentesis.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate, evidence-based patient care.
- Follow unit policies and safety protocols, including handling hazardous drugs and managing complex treatment regimens.
- Document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record system.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Colorado.
- Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure clinical nursing experience, preferably in oncology or hematology.
- Compassionate with strong patient-centered care skills, especially for chronically ill oncology patients.
- Ability to quickly learn new procedures and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Certification or experience in chemotherapy and biotherapy preferred or obliged for consideration.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Certification in chemotherapy and biotherapy.
- Experience with step-down units or acute hematology care.
- Proficiency with EMR systems, specifically Meditech.
- Experience performing lumbar punctures, bone marrow biopsies, or thoracentesis.
