Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) for cardiac surgeries, including transplants and complex procedures.
• Scrub and circulate during heart and lung transplant surgeries, adhering to sterile techniques and safety protocols.
• Support a high-volume hospital environment with a 56-bed OR and diverse case types such as neuro, trauma, general, orthopedic, GYN, urology, ENT, plastics, cardiothoracic, vascular, and transplant surgeries.
• Float between ORs as needed, remaining flexible to accommodate unit priorities and patient needs.
• Participate in call rotations, providing on-call support as required, with fair distribution among staff.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policy, including COVID-19 vaccination requirements or valid exemptions.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of CVOR surgical experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred.
• Ability to scrub and circulate in CVOR, specifically for heart and lung transplant cases.
• Experience with a variety of case types, including transplant and complex surgeries.
• Strong understanding of adult patient care in a high-acuity environment.
• Current RN license in the state of Tennessee or appropriate licensing for practice.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working in a Level 1 trauma center.
• Flexibility to float between ORs and adapt to varying schedules.
• Previous experience in a travel nursing role within a cardiac surgery environment.

Additional Information

• Orientation dates available on 1/26, 2/2, and 2/9.
• This role requires 12-hour shifts Monday through Friday, with call responsibilities shared fairly among team members.
• Vanderbilt University Hospital requires all travelers to have completed the COVID-19 vaccine series or possess an approved exemption before start date.
