Key Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory therapy to patients across all age groups in accordance with evidence-based policies and procedures.
- Administer medical gases, medications, airway clearance, and mechanical ventilation as prescribed by licensed healthcare providers.
- Respond to emergent situations such as Rapid Response calls and Blue Alerts, serving as the primary airway manager.
- Initiate and manage various modes of mechanical ventilation, including high-frequency ventilation and inverse I:E ratio.
- Assess patient responses to therapy, monitor equipment and supplies, and document interventions in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams during patient rounds in ICU and intermediate care units.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in Illinois.
- Certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Successful passing of NBRC TMC and CSE exams (for graduate therapists).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record documentation.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience managing advanced ventilation modes and specialty medical gases such as Nitrogen, Heliox, and Nitric Oxide.
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations and perform life-sustaining interventions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking in patient care.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds daily and lift and position patients regularly.
- Capable of standing for up to 4 hours and performing manual tasks including reaching, stooping, and bending.
- Able to push and pull equipment weighing up to 35 pounds with consistent effort.
- Must have good communication skills, manual dexterity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
