Key Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgical procedures by pulling appropriate instruments and supplies and ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
• Anticipate and assist the surgeon's needs during surgeries, including passing instruments, retracting tissue, and operating equipment.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and universal precautions throughout procedures; dispose of sharps and trash safely, and participate in instrument and sponge counts.
• Ensure accurate surgeon preference cards and pick lists; assist with operating room turnover, replenishing supplies, and cleaning.
• May perform administrative tasks supporting the department and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
• Support safe handling of specimens, sharps, and proper infection control practices, participating in emergency call rotation.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current registration with State Regulatory Agency (if applicable)
• Ability to perform with manual dexterity and remain composed in high-stress situations

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Graduation from a certified school of surgical technology or at least 2 years of OR experience
