Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, plan, and administer treatment to residents and patients with disabilities to relieve pain, restore or improve function, and promote healing.
- Deliver all treatments following an established plan of care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Record treatments provided and note patient progress in medical records accurately.
- Provide clinical support and education to patients, families, and caregivers.
- Monitor patient responses to interventions and adjust care as needed.
- Complete required documentation in compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree from a CAPTE-accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Certification from the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE) for PTAs, administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT).
- Strong understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions from a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Empathy and patience when working with patients.
- Physical stamina to assist with patient movement and exercises.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a skilled nursing facility (may be required by state).
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working with residents in a skilled nursing or similar healthcare setting.
