Job Title

Schedule / Job Type
• Full-time, temporary travel assignment – Days shifts (8 hours)

Key Responsibilities
• Provide end-of-life care for patients with a prognosis of six months or less, primarily geriatric population.
• Administer medications, manage pain, and implement both pharmacological and non-pharmacological pain interventions using clinical protocols.
• Conduct patient assessments, including symptom management for altered mental status, nausea, pressure ulcers, and other complex conditions.
• Educate and support patients and families on disease progression, treatment options, and emotional needs, including spiritual considerations.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, document care in electronic health records, and follow state and organization protocols.
• Participate in on-call rotations, providing telephonic triage and urgent visits as needed.

Required Qualifications
• Valid and current nursing license (NC or Compact state license) in hand at start.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent hospice, home health, or skilled nursing experience.
• Experience with medication administration, pain management (including opioid dosing and PCA pumps), and symptom assessment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to float within the hospital or nearby facilities.
• Must complete required onboarding modules prior to start date.

Preferred Experience / Skills
• Experience with end-of-life care procedures such as death pronouncement and postmortem care.
• Knowledge of ethical/legal issues like advanced directives, organ donation, and palliative sedation.
• Phlebotomy and IV management skills, including peripheral IVs and central lines.
• Ability to handle complex symptom management scenarios and utilize pain scales effectively.
