- Sterile Processing Technician
Location
- Columbus, Ohio
Schedule / Job Type
- Full-time, 2nd shift (Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM), with occasional scheduled holidays; generally 5 shifts per week
Key Responsibilities
- Decontaminate all surgical items including drills, Da Vinci instruments, scopes
- Assemble instruments across various service lines such as Trauma, loaners, and peel packaging
- Operate sterilization processes using Sterrad and steam sterilizers
- Perform HLD (High-Level Disinfection) and scope reprocessing
- Manage sterile storage and inventory
- Serve as an OR liaison to ensure smooth department operations
- Utilize Censitrac tracking system for instrument management
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in a busy hospital or surgical sterile processing department equivalent to OSU
- Certification through CBSPD or CRCST (via HSPA, formerly IAHCSMM)
- Experience with decontamination, sterilization, and scope reprocessing
- Knowledge of sterilization equipment (Sterrad, steam sterilizers)
- Ability to handle HLD and scope procedures, sterile storage, and inventory management
- Familiarity with Censitrac or similar tracking systems
- Valid state license (for RNs) or applicable certifications for technicians
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a Level One trauma center or similar high-volume facility
- Ability to float to different locations within the hospital system if needed
- Strong understanding of OR workflows and instrumentation
- Familiarity with credentialing and fingerprinting procedures for healthcare compliance
