Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care to obstetric and high-risk antepartum and postpartum patients in a fast-paced maternity unit.
- Assist with labor, delivery, and postpartum procedures, including Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage.
- Monitor obstetrical patients, perform routine outpatient procedures such as fetal surveillance and medication administration.
- Collaborate with a high-volume team to ensure efficient patient flow, managing 20+ births in a 24-hour period.
- Float as needed within the hospital or to affiliated facilities, maintaining flexibility based on census and skill set.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including sterile techniques and immediate newborn care.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in North Carolina (or compact state), with in-hand certification at start.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, preferably 3 years, with exposure to high-volume units exceeding 300 births per month.
- Experience with circulating in the operating room and managing double labor assignments.
- Certified in BCLS, AWHONN Intermediate, and NRP.
- Proficiency in charting with Epic or similar electronic medical records systems.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous travel nursing experience accepted in large, high-volume obstetric units.
- Strong knowledge of obstetrical triage and high-risk patient care.
- Comfortable floating and working in high-acuity environments with minimal supervision.
