Key Responsibilities
- Assist during surgical procedures by maintaining the sterile field and providing instrumentation as needed to the surgical team.
- Ensure sterilization and proper packaging of surgical instruments, and verify equipment functionality to maximize patient safety.
- Monitor the sterile field, identify potential contamination or interference, and initiate corrective actions under supervision.
- Support team in patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparations.
- Maintain proficiency in surgical techniques, instrumentation, and technology, adhering to industry standards such as AORN.
- Communicate effectively with perioperative team members, participating in safety protocols like Time Out, briefings, and debriefings.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or licensed surgical technologist in Colorado.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
- Proficiency in computer skills necessary for online training and documentation.
- Physical ability to perform manual tasks, lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Working knowledge of human anatomy and surgical procedures.
- Experience with Tier 1 surgical cases.
- Familiarity with sterile and aseptic techniques such as those outlined by AORN standards.
- Prior experience in a surgical or perioperative setting.
