Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
Location: Alexandria, LA
Schedule / Job Type: Full-Time, Night Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide routine and complex nursing care to high-acuity emergency room patients, including assessments, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Manage a heavy caseload, including strokes, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health, and sepsis cases.
- Administer medications and treatments following appropriate protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient histories, symptoms, medication administration, and care processes accurately.
- Educate patients and families regarding health conditions, treatments, and care plans.
- Make appropriate clinical decisions independently while collaborating with the healthcare team.
Required Qualifications:
- Current RN license in the state of employment or valid compact license.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- PALS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Valid Blue Card (if required by institution).
- At least 1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- Experience in emergency or high-acuity care settings.
- Ability to handle complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social patient needs.
