Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to individuals with acute and chronic respiratory conditions, including pneumonia, COPD, and other lung diseases.
- Float to other units and hospitals as needed, supporting various medical and surgical patient needs.
- Collaborate daily with interdisciplinary teams during patient rounds to ensure comprehensive care.
- Maintain a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio on the Medical Respiratory Unit and 1:4 on the respiratory step-down unit.
- Adhere to hospital protocols, safety standards, and documentation requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate administration of treatments and medications, documenting care appropriately.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher.
- Current Alabama or Compact State Registered Nurse license (No temporary licenses accepted).
- AHA BLS or Red Cross certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience; will consider 18 months if holding the highest professional license and with at least 1 year of recent experience in the specialty.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working with respiratory patient populations.
- Familiarity with Meditech electronic medical records system.
- Ability to float between various hospital units confidently.
