Travel RN – Cardiac Stepdown (Night Shift)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Cardiac Stepdown unit with a patient ratio of 5–6:1 during night shift hours

• Perform telemetry application documentation, acknowledge and chart rhythm strips each shift, and monitor patients via Philips Telemetry and MP2 systems

• Administer and manage cardiac drip medications including Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone

• Perform and assist with unit procedures including chest tube management, wound vac management, and ad lib EKGs

• Conduct bedside and hourly rounding utilizing the 5P framework; adhere to NO PASS ZONE policy for bed alarms, call lights, and IV alarms

• Float as needed to other medical/surgical areas including general M/S, Ortho, PCU, and M/S Surgical with Oncology based on skill mix requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant clinical setting

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required

• Current NIH Stroke Scale certification required

• Proficiency with cardiac drip management (Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Amiodarone)

• Experience with electronic documentation systems (Meditech or similar)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a Cardiac Stepdown, Telemetry, or Progressive Care Unit setting

• Familiarity with Pyxis ES medication dispensing systems and WOW medication delivery

• Experience with chest tube management, wound vac management, and EKG interpretation

• Prior travel nursing experience with ability to adapt quickly to new unit environments
