Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity progressive care unit (PCU) nursing care to medical oncology patients, including those with solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology diagnoses
- Monitor and interpret telemetry/dysrhythmias using GE telemetry monitoring systems
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, PCA pumps, and continuous bladder irrigation
- Administer blood products, manage cardiac drips, and utilize heparin protocols
- Operate and monitor respiratory support equipment including CPAP/BiPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and perform tracheostomy management
- Adhere to strict infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention measures; float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license (compact or state license required at time of submission)
- Minimum high-acuity PCU patient experience required
- Current BLS (BCLS), ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications
- Proficiency in telemetry interpretation, central/PICC line management, IV insertion, feeding tube care, port access, and chest tube management
- Ability to manage cardiac drips and titrate as required
- Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
Preferred Experience / Skills
- 2 years of oncology nursing experience preferred, though not required
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Experience with chemotherapy administration and monitoring, arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, IV insulin protocols, and phlebotomy
- Experience with non-invasive airway management and surgical drain care
