Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a PCU/IMC/Stepdown setting for a diverse surgical population including bariatric, urology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and trauma patients
- Monitor and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and respond to Rapid Response and Code team activations
- Manage complex post-operative pain control modalities including epidural analgesia, PCA, ketamine infusions, and lidocaine infusions
- Perform care and management of multiple drainage devices including chest tubes, wound vacs, NG tubes, G-tubes, J-tubes, GJ-tubes, JP drains, and IR drains
- Perform Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI), PICC line management, peripheral line care, and IV insertion and maintenance
- Adhere to isolation precautions and PPE protocols; perform wound care and wound vac changes including for necrotizing soft tissue infections requiring serial debridement
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license valid in both Kansas and Missouri, or a compact license covering both states, required at time of submission
- Minimum of 2 years of RN experience; first-time travelers are not accepted
- Current BLS and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
- Demonstrated experience in MS/Telemetry and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown environments
- Proficiency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), epidural analgesia, PCA, and feeding tube care
- Ability and willingness to float between departments, units, and facilities as needed; refusal to float may result in contract cancellation
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for bariatric, urology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, or surgical oncology patient populations
- Familiarity with EPIC EMR; ability to complete EPIC test-out or training module prior to start
- Experience with infusion pump operation and glucometer use
