Registered Nurse – PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift | 40 hours per week | Staggering shifts consisting of two 12-hour and two 8-hour shifts per week | Weekend call required (3–4 eight-hour shifts per 6-week period)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide Phase 1 and Phase 2 post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical and procedural interventions
• Monitor and assess patient vital signs, airway status, pain levels, and overall recovery progress in the PACU setting
• Administer medications and interventions as ordered, responding promptly to changes in patient condition
• Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe patient transitions
• Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes using the electronic health record system
• Fulfill weekend call obligations as scheduled within the established rotation

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience (Phase 1 and Phase 2)
• Active and unrestricted Connecticut RN license, or a valid Compact RN license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working in a high-volume or acute care PACU environment
• Ability to adapt to variable shift start times and staggered scheduling
