Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift | 40 hours per week | Staggering shifts consisting of two 12-hour and two 8-hour shifts per week | Weekend call required (3–4 eight-hour shifts per 6-week period)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Phase 1 and Phase 2 post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical and procedural interventions
- Monitor and assess patient vital signs, airway status, pain levels, and overall recovery progress in the PACU setting
- Administer medications and interventions as ordered, responding promptly to changes in patient condition
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe patient transitions
- Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes using the electronic health record system
- Fulfill weekend call obligations as scheduled within the established rotation
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience (Phase 1 and Phase 2)
- Active and unrestricted Connecticut RN license, or a valid Compact RN license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a high-volume or acute care PACU environment
- Ability to adapt to variable shift start times and staggered scheduling
