Key Responsibilities
- Provide routine and complex nursing care to neonatal patients ranging from feeder growers to complex ICU-level neonates in a Level 4 NICU setting, maintaining patient ratios of 1:2, 1:3, or 1:4.
- Utilize the nursing process — including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
- Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness.
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and thoroughly.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and connect to appropriate resources.
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of Texas or a compact state license.
- Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association only).
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification.
- Current STABLE (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants) Certification — Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor level.
- Minimum of 1 year of NICU or related neonatal nursing experience.
- Ability to fulfill weekend requirements: 4 weekends per six-week period, including two Mondays and two Fridays.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Completion of a Perinatal RN Residency or recent practice in a perinatal setting.
- Experience working in a Level 3 or Level 4 NICU environment with complex neonatal patient populations.
