Contract | Onsite | Day or Night Shift (3x12 Hours) — Traveler's preference; Days 7:00–19:00 or Nights 19:00–7:30
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in an Observation Unit setting for patients with anticipated short lengths of stay (up to two midnights), with a focus on efficient, high-quality care and timely disposition decisions
- Manage a patient population including diagnoses such as dehydration, electrolyte abnormalities, nausea and vomiting, chemotherapy and radiation symptom management, acute kidney injury, syncope, urinary tract infections, palliative and pain control, and post-procedure monitoring
- Perform telemetry monitoring, interpret dysrhythmias, start IVs, and manage PICC lines
- Collaborate with APPs, supervising MDs, PCAs, and UCAs within a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio with charge nurse in assignment
- Occasionally float to an emergency department setting to assist with inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry patients awaiting transfer to an acute care unit (orientation to the area provided)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license — compact or Ohio state license required and must be in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical / Telemetry nursing
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required
- Demonstrated skills in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV insertion, and PICC line management
- Nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
- Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager, director, or formal leadership role (charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification preferred
- Experience with oncology patient populations, including chemotherapy and radiation symptom management
