Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) – Blood Bank

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 4x10-Hour Variable Days | Start Time 9:30 PM (may flex to 8:00 PM as needed) | Rotating Weekends and Holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-volume Blood Bank testing including Type & Screen and Crossmatch, processing approximately 30–50 samples per day
• Operate independently during night shift in a fast-paced, Trauma Level I acute care environment
• Utilize Blood Bank software and instrumentation to accurately process and document laboratory results
• Maintain compliance with laboratory protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with clinical teams to support patient care needs, including rotating weekend and holiday coverage

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent Blood Bank experience (within the last 2 years) — required, no exceptions
• Active ASCP-BB (Blood Bank) certification — required
• Experience as a Blood Bank traveler in a large hospital setting (300+ beds) — required
• Trauma Level I facility experience — required
• Proficiency with Blood Bank-specific software (any platform) — required
• Active California CLS license in hand prior to start — required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Clinical Immunohematology Scientist (CIS) certification preferred
• Experience with Wellsky and/or Immucor instrumentation preferred
• Background in a teaching hospital setting preferred
