Key Responsibilities

• Perform cardiac diagnostic imaging procedures including 2D and Doppler modalities to study the anatomy and hemodynamics of the heart.
• Conduct online calculations to quantify cardiac parameters of function and hemodynamics; perform 12-lead electrocardiograms and operate stress testing equipment as needed.
• Review patient medical history and direct exams accordingly; report abnormal findings to Cardiologists and take appropriate steps to safeguard patients.
• Assist Cardiologists during transesophageal echocardiograms and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Monitor report turnaround times, ensure reports are directed to appropriate Cardiologists, and maintain familiarity with echo PACS systems and JCAHO guidelines.
• Maintain, clean, and disinfect equipment including probes; recognize and report malfunctioning equipment to Clinical Engineering.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Formal training from an accredited medical sonography program specializing in cardiac sonography.
• Active ARDMS credential as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) with Adult Echocardiography (AE) specialty; must have held RDCS (AE) credential for a minimum of 5 years.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a cardiac sonographer.
• Strong computer, verbal, and written communication skills.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Familiarity with cardiac arrhythmias and cardiac medications.
• Experience covering lead echo technician responsibilities and supporting workflow coordination among echo and EKG technicians.
• Ability to troubleshoot echo PACS system issues and liaise with technical support as needed.
