Key Responsibilities

• Systematically gather and evaluate patient information to develop and modify individualized respiratory care plans based on ongoing assessment and reassessment.
• Administer respiratory therapy treatments, oxygen therapy, and correct medication dosages per physician orders; obtain ABGs, perform pulse oximetry, pulmonary function testing per ATS standards, and EKGs.
• Set up, assess, and manage mechanical ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP units; assist with flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy.
• Assess and monitor patient cardiopulmonary status and recommend changes to the plan of care in coordination with the healthcare team.
• Implement and maintain VAP bundle protocols consistently; alert appropriate supervisory staff of any deviations by attending physicians for case review.
• Provide patient and family education on respiratory conditions, treatments, medications, and equipment use; evaluate patient understanding and readiness to learn.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory Therapy program.
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (R.R.T.) by the National Board for Respiratory Care, or eligible.
• Current Respiratory Therapist license issued by the State of Massachusetts.
• ACLS certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• NRP certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• PALS certification required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist in an acute care or hospital setting.
• Basic computer skills with the ability to document care and navigate electronic health record systems.
