Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of cardiac ultrasound procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to produce technically diagnostic exams for interpretation by a cardiologist or radiologist.
- Assist cardiologists or appropriate physicians during invasive ultrasound procedures.
- Review physician orders and requisitions for pertinent information, special requests, and correct procedures.
- Complete documentation on patient exams and ensure all required processes are followed for appropriate exam charges.
- Maintain medical supplies, stock items, and prepare and clean patient exam rooms and equipment.
- Participate in on-call rotation approximately every 5th or 6th week, with one rotating hospital holiday per year.
Required Qualifications
- Degree or certificate from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP) accredited sonography program.
- Certification in cardiac ultrasound by the ARDMS or CCI required within 12 months of graduation.
- Current New Hampshire State License in applicable discipline.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience performing cardiac ultrasound exams in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Familiarity with implementing clinical protocols and quality assurance processes in an echo or ultrasound department.
