Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to ensure students meet educational and behavioral objectives
• Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities, adapting lesson plans, teaching strategies, and assessments to meet individual needs
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, school counselors, and support staff to integrate students into general education settings and support academic and social development
• Implement behavioral management strategies using positive reinforcement and consistent techniques to maintain a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment
• Regularly assess student progress, adjust teaching methods and IEPs as needed, and maintain thorough documentation of student performance
• Maintain open communication with parents or guardians regarding student progress, IEP goals, and recommendations for home support

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education required
• Valid Missouri teaching certification in Special Education required
• Experience working with students with a range of disabilities, including learning disabilities, autism, and developmental delays
• Strong knowledge of special education laws, techniques, and best practices, including IDEA and Section 504
• Ability to assist students with mobility or physical needs as required by their IEPs
• Ability to lift and move classroom materials and equipment as needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Master's degree in Special Education preferred
• Previous experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting
• Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple IEPs and progress monitoring responsibilities
• Demonstrated patience, empathy, and passion for supporting students with special needs
