Key Responsibilities

• Accurately perform all echocardiogram studies ordered by physicians, including Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal, Exercise Stress, and Pharmacological Echocardiography
• Perform additional cardiac diagnostic studies including EKG, Holter prep, monitoring and analysis, and cardiac stress tests
• Operate mechanical devices such as echocardiographs, cardiac stress systems, electrocardiographs, and Holter monitors to provide optimal diagnostic information to cardiology physicians
• Accurately utilize hospital information systems for scheduling, processing, and charging of all studies
• Implement appropriate infection control practices and demonstrate working knowledge of aseptic techniques and equipment disinfection
• Provide preceptorship and clinical guidance to students and perform cardiac diagnostic tests following age-specific guidelines, including neonatal and pediatric patients

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential
• Successful completion of a certification program and/or a minimum of two years of hands-on echocardiography experience

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Certificate in Cardiovascular Sonography
• Extensive experience performing echocardiography studies in a hospital setting
• Extensive experience with both pediatric and neonatal echocardiography
