Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Days – 5x8 Hours (6:45–15:15), Monday–Friday | Call requirement: one day per week and every fifth weekend
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization lab setting at a 1:1 patient ratio
- Assist with and circulate procedures including percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), left and right heart catheterizations, IABP placement/removal, PFO/ASD closures, and TAVI/TAVR
- Administer and monitor procedural sedation, IV vasopressors, antiarrhythmics, thrombolytics, and other cardiac medications
- Perform sheath removal and monitoring, 12-lead EKG interpretation, ACT monitoring, cardioversion, and dysrhythmia management
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment including Impella, EKOS, Penumbra, Shockwave, Roto, and GE Mac Lab system
- Document accurately using Epic and communicate using SBAR; adhere to infection prevention and isolation precaution protocols
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a compact state license
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab setting
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Proficiency with diagnostic and interventional cath lab procedures including PCI, cardiac stent placement, and pulmonary artery/Swan-Ganz monitoring
- Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration, IV infusion pumps, and starting IVs
- Competency in procedural sedation administration and monitoring, Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale, and malignant hyperthermia protocols
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with advanced procedures such as Impella insertion, rotablader atherectomy, TAVI/TAVR, scrub procedures, and upper/lower extremity angiography
- Familiarity with vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose), topical hemostasis agents, external compression devices, and laser-assisted procedures
- Experience with PICC line and implanted port care, central line insertion assistance, and end-tidal CO2 monitoring
- Ventilator monitoring experience and knowledge of radiation and laser safety protocols
