Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Post-Surgical Unit)

Contract | Nights | 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend, floating, and holidays required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-volume post-surgical unit serving urology and GYN surgical populations
• Monitor and assess patients using telemetry, including rhythm identification and interval measurements
• Manage a patient assignment with a typical ratio of 1:7
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate post-surgical patient care and discharge planning
• Document all patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner using Epic EMR
• Participate in required holiday coverage, including two of three winter holidays within the contract period

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of recent, relevant Medical Surgical / Telemetry RN experience
• Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission — no exceptions
• Proficiency in Epic EMR — no exceptions
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association
• Must pass a telemetry EKG test with a score of 80% or higher prior to start (one attempt, no remediation)
• Candidate's permanent address must be greater than 50 miles from the facility; driver's license required for address verification

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
• Comfort and familiarity with 1:7 patient ratios in a high-acuity post-surgical environment
• Strong telemetry skills including sinus rhythms, heart blocks, lethal rhythms, atrial and junctional rhythms, and pacing
