Key Responsibilities
- Provide continuous cardiac telemetry monitoring, assessment, and nursing intervention in a fast-paced 24-bed Intermediate Intensive Care unit with a 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Care for adult and geriatric patients with medical/surgical, cardiac, renal, bariatric, pulmonary, and trauma-related diagnoses including heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, and post-procedural conditions
- Manage vasoactive IV medications, insulin drips, arterial/venous sheaths, pericardial drains, chest tubes, and non-invasive airway therapies including BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula
- Perform pre- and post-procedural care for cardiac interventions such as PTCA, stenting, pacemaker implantation, TAVR, cardioversion, and electrophysiology procedures
- Monitor and respond to dysrhythmias, conduct continuous EKG monitoring, and support emergency cardiac and respiratory arrest response per Code Blue policy
- Float as needed to the Cardiac Telemetry unit, where patient ratios may reach 1:6 in a Med/Surg assignment; work every other weekend as required
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; first-time travelers will not be accepted
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications required
- Proficiency in telemetry, IV starts, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, peripheral line care, and non-invasive airway management
- Post cardiac catheterization and post cardiac/vascular surgical experience required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Charge nurse experience
- Wound care and wound vac experience
- NIHSS certification
