Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients referred by ordering physicians and develop individualized care plans addressing physical disabilities resulting from injury, disease, or surgery.
- Administer therapeutic treatments utilizing physical agents, biomechanical and neurophysiological principles, and assistive devices to relieve pain, restore function, and prevent disability.
- Re-evaluate patient status on an ongoing basis and modify treatment programs as clinically indicated.
- Document all patient care activities in the electronic medical record, including evaluations, re-evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries, and complete daily billing procedures.
- Educate patients and their families regarding treatment plans and procedures.
- Provide direction to occupational therapy support staff and efficiently manage daily workload and time resources.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association and approved by the State of Washington Occupational Therapy Examining Committee.
- Active Washington State Occupational Therapist license, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Ability to evaluate and provide care across the age continuum, including school-age, young and middle-aged adults, and geriatric patients.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) at the Healthcare Provider (HCP) level, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with physicians, nurses, patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Advanced degree or specialized training in occupational therapy.
- Minimum one year of outpatient occupational therapy experience.
- Hand therapy and splinting experience, with interest in or experience developing elbow, wrist, and hand programs.
