Contract | Days | Full-Time | Onsite | 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 21-bed nephrology unit managing a patient ratio of 1:4–5, including bedside report and 1–2 hour rounding requirements
• Care for patients with complex diagnoses including ESRD, AKI, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, kidney and pancreas transplants (post-op and rejection), parathyroidectomies, and general medicine overflow
• Collaborate with Charge Nurses, House Supervisors, and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) present on all shifts to coordinate patient care activities
• Administer inhalers and coordinate with respiratory therapists for respiratory treatments; manage telemetry monitoring in conjunction with remote TeleTech monitoring staff
• Float to other general medicine units as needed; infrequent float to sitter, ED, or ICU roles as a help-all
• Adhere to a drug-free campus policy, dress code standards, and unit-specific protocols

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• General medicine nursing background
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates
• Must be able to produce a negative drug screen prior to placement

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in nephrology or urology nursing
• Familiarity with dialysis patient populations (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis)
• Experience with transplant patient care (kidney and/or pancreas)
• Demonstrated positive attitude, strong teamwork, and dependability in a fast-paced inpatient environment
