Key Responsibilities

• Function as a member of the surgical team under the direction of the registered nurse, performing scrub functions and supporting the perioperative plan of care
• Demonstrate knowledge of operative procedures including draping, instrumentation, suture, and equipment; set up and maintain mayo and back tables aseptically throughout procedures
• Apply principles of aseptic technique including gowning, gloving, sterilization, and disinfection; properly handle, identify, and label medications on the sterile field and safely dispose of sharps
• Anticipate surgeon needs, perform accurate counts of all required items before, during, and after procedures, and ensure the room is prepared prior to each scheduled case
• Actively participate in unit activities including teamwork, orientation of new staff, updating preference cards, and supporting patient safety goals
• Complete all required safety and education training programs and demonstrate knowledge of National Patient Safety Goals and AORN Guidelines and Recommended Practices

Required Qualifications

• Completion of a Surgical Technology Program (Technical Diploma) or an Associate's Degree
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Ability to communicate effectively and practice respectful verbal and written communication
• Ability to collaborate, cooperate, and contribute constructively within a surgical team environment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Versatility across a variety of OR specialties
• Familiarity with sterilization modalities such as Steris, steam, Sterrad, and event-related sterility
