Patient Care Technician – Staffing Float
Location
Baltimore, MD | Long-Term Acute Care
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Key Responsibilities
- Float across units within scope to support facility staffing needs in a long-term acute care environment
- Assist patients with ambulation, feeding, turning/repositioning, linen changes, mouth care, and incontinence care
- Perform clinical skills including vital signs, 12-lead EKG/ECG, finger sticks, intake/output, sterile specimen collection, and phlebotomy
- Provide routine catheter care and collect urine/stool specimens as required
- Recognize and report abnormal vital signs to appropriate clinical staff
- Execute safe patient transfers, patient transport, specimen labeling/transport, and infection-control practices; document care using Cerner
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Patient Care Technician experience
- Acute Care experience required
- BLS certification required
- PCT certification required
- Basic EKG Exam required
- Valid Maryland or Compact license required at time of submission
- Telemetry (Tele) experience required
- Proficiency with Cerner charting system required
- Open scheduling availability required; block scheduling is not available
- Candidates must be available to attend all orientation days (Tuesday–Friday, day shift)
- Strict time and attendance compliance required; facility maintains a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Must be available to work every other major holiday (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas); no RTO approved on blackout dates including Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Super Bowl Sunday, Halloween, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Dialysis experience preferred
- CPCT/A certification preferred
