Key Responsibilities
- Assist members of the surgical team in the delivery of patient care during the intra-operative period, with a focus on preparation and handling of instrumentation and surgical equipment
- Display aseptic technique in the performance of surgical duties to support positive patient outcomes
- Demonstrate responsibility for the care, preparation, handling, and maintenance of surgical instrumentation
- Consistently perform sponge, sharps, and instrument counts according to policy and procedure
- Administer care and apply equipment knowledge based on the age and needs of the patient population served, from neonate through geriatric
- Recognize and respond appropriately during urgent or emergency situations
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of two (2) years of Surgical Tech experience
- BLS certification required
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) required
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology, the metric system, and aseptic technique
