Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in a high-risk, high-volume Labor and Delivery unit serving midwifery clients, private OB patients, and community care populations
- Circulate in the OR — required for this role; unit operates 4 ORs supporting all types of deliveries
- Function as Baby Nurse during delivery, providing newborn care including eyes, Vitamin K injections (thighs), and newborn assessments, and continuing care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum
- Administer and monitor high-acuity medications including Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate
- Utilize EPIC and perform electronic fetal monitoring; staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
- Float to Postpartum and Antepartum, with potential float to sister facilities supporting Mother/Baby units
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license; compact license must be in hand at time of submission
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience required
- High-risk L&D experience required; ability to work in fast-paced, high-acuity environments
- Required certifications: BLS and NRP
- Ability to circulate in the OR and perform newborn care — hard stop requirements; candidates who cannot meet both will not be considered
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible as a traveler; local candidates are accepted at a different rate
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ACLS certification preferred
- AWHONN Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
- Experience with electronic fetal monitoring and EPIC EMR
- Experience supporting substance recovery populations or community care clinic patients
